He is a companion mule. If your on a trail or stuck at home with him eating treats out of your hands, Midwest will be your Partner In Crime! He has always been hooked up with me. Hangs around and follows me around the barn when I get off him to do a chore. He just likes people. This is the kind of attitude that develops into a mule that you can trust on the trail or around your place. The more I get to know these individual mules, the more I realize the new owners are going to enjoy the companionship that only a mule can provide for many upcoming years. This mule has had so much one on one time he thinks he is one of the grand kids. Much of the time during training each mule live in their individual lots or stalls. This dependency builds a relationships with the human provider much like a dog develops. They go out on the trails over and over weekly during most of the year. When it hits 95 degrees and up, we put extra time on them. Nothing makes a mule like riding at 100 degrees. When I have done that through the month of August neither the mule or I have a mind to go anywhere unless directed to by the boss!
Midwest really has a wonderful gait. Simple to ride and easy on the back side. He has been ridden in varying environments. Major trail rides (300 horses, 250 people) for many days. County roads. Trail ridden out of our barn and back. He has shown just the right balance between having a laid back mule attitude and having a big enough motor to stay with the gaited horse on the trail. Early in the summer of 2007, The Man was my selection to trail ride when riding with the grand kids. Several different men have had the opportunity to ride him on the trail. His response has been good toward each individual rider. The movies below is the only way to depict his pleasant gaits. I hope you will take the time to download the movies and enjoy them. Not enough time for that then review the "Photo Diaries" . After that give me a call and I can tell you a few other things about "Midwest Man"
