Peggy Sue
With her nice handle, trail neckrein and sidepassing, skills you could easily mistake her for twice her age because of her level of cooperation and maturity. Now, don’t let her “pretty princess” good looks fool you - Peggy Sue is completely at home out in the underbrush and isn’t afraid to get down and dirty on some muddy trails. She does like to go! And like all our other mules, she’s got the “been there, done that” resume of everyday farm life. Heavy farm machinery, other noisy livestock, kids, dogs underfoot, wildlife, tractors and delivery people… on gravel, mud or asphalt, Peggy’s seen it all.

Now, there’s a lot more to a mule than just their gaits. In Peggy Sue’s case, this is important! She has a very active mind, and she never forgets anything. Because of these qualities, a solid foundation of trust is crucial to produce the very best mule she can be. Fortunately, our PlayPen Program for our home grown youngsters is perfect for mules like her. It goes way beyond imprinting, and produces young mules that have a genuine love and desire to trust humans. Peggy Sue’s a great example of the logical end to our methods -.she’s been an eager student and an active partner in her own training from the second her mama stopped licking her. Now she’s grown into a fine young mule with no agenda of her own, who likes to go on adventures, tunes into her rider and is a forward, confident ride in all terrain.

Like A+ student she is, she learned the “Pick Me Up” maneuver in record speed, and happily sidepasses over to whatever log, block or picnic bench you want to mount from. She will catch YOU in the pasture, and isn’t picky about who she’s going to love on. She’s totally in your pocket at every turn, and always wants to see what her humans are up to today. If you haven’t figured it out yet, this one’s kind of a favorite - half of the fun of having her around is riding her ourselves, but also, seeing OTHER people ride and interact with her is just so much fun!
